After more than a century on the water, this cherished lakehouse was reimagined for the next hundred years while preserving the character and spirit of the original home. The owners sought a year-round residence that honored the legacy of the existing structure, which no longer met modern standards for insulation, heating, and cooling. Located within a highly regulated shoreland zone, the project required a six-month zoning and DEP approval process to achieve its vision. The resulting home echoes the scale and architectural language of the original while thoughtfully expanding its footprint and incorporating the timeless detailing and ornamentation of classic New England lakehouses. The result is a home that balances preservation and renewal, carrying its legacy forward for generations to come.
